“Ever since the opening of the Hong Kong Velodrome in 2013, we had been hosting international track cycling events each and every year. Starting from the first ever Hong Kong International Track Cup back in 2014, we have already hosted the International Track Cup three times, including one earlier this year. Not to mention the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in 2016, as well as the UCI Track Cycling World Championship that followed the next year. We are confident this event will be even more impressive than the World Cup two years ago, providing the best venue for elite riders from all over the world to compete at, and for Hong Kong citizens to enjoy some races of the highest standards,” said Mr Wilfred Ng Sau-kei, SBS, JP, Vice-President of the Cycling Association of Hong Kong, China Limited. He also mentioned Hong Kong will be hosting yet another UCI Track Cycling World Cup series during the 2019/20 season, and it is expected such involvement and participation will further raise the standards of Hong Kong cycling.

Having snatched one silver medal in Women’s Sprint, and one bronze medal in Women’s Keirin on home soil back in 2016, Hong Kong Track Cycling representative Sarah Lee Wai Sze is aiming to raise the bar and bring home better results, “I remember how Hong Kong citizens cheered me on at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup here two years ago, the atmosphere was impressive. To compete on home soil again, I hope myself and my teammates can take home better results. More importantly, we wish more Hong Kong citizens will come and support us, we shall do our best to reward them with some wonderful races too,” said the two-time Asian Games gold medalist.
